Summer 2020 Outreach at Home
Members of our youth group were not able to participate in out-of-town mission trips this summer. They are carrying on that ministry with “Outreach at Home.” Emily Bruch has arranged for them to be light in the world in their neighborhoods and our communities. They will be gathering food for GoochlandCARES, writing letters to parishioners, putting together care kits for the homeless, picking up trash in their neighborhoods, and more! Download a BINGO Board below to complete the Outreach Projects. When you have completed a BINGO row, share your board to Emily Bruch by August 4. Your name will be put into a raffle to win one of three prizes!

Sunday School for Youth
Sunday School classes are available for all youth (6th – 12th grade) on Sunday mornings from 10 -10:50 a.m. Download and fill out a registration form for Sunday School.
6th & 7th Grade Sunday School (September – June): 6th-7th grade students will spend the year studying faith and film, exploring the inspiring connections between faith and pop culture.
Confirmation Class (8th Grade) (September – May): At St. Mary’s, young people often prepare to be confirmed in their 8th grade year. While this convention works well for many, it is certainly not a rule. Any youth entering 8th grade or older who is interested in continuing to explore his or her faith is welcome to join the class. Our Confirmation class is held during the Christian Formation hour on Sundays from 10-10:50 a.m. During class we will look into the importance of faith, scripture, and reason in the Episcopal church. Information session for youth and parents is on Sunday, September 22, 2019 at 10 a.m. Contact Emily Bruch for more information or to inquire about registering.
High School Sunday School (September – May): This class delves into the important topics in the world today as they help to prepare, and lead youth worship services held throughout the year.
Youth Group – an All-Welcoming Community
St. Mary’s youth group is an all-welcoming community to youth grades 6-12. It is our mission to provide a safe and encouraging environment for our youth to experience God’s abundant love through relationships, fun, and questioning. Throughout the year we meet for a variety of activities, outings, and service projects. Youth group meeting times may vary week to week based on the event.

During youth cooking classes our youth learn new recipes and techniques as they prepare a meal together. Following cooking the group breaks bread as a community to share the meal that they have made.
Whether you are a fishing expert or new to fishing, youth of all grades are welcome to be part of the St. Mary’s fishing club. The group meets several times throughout the year to fish all over the Richmond area. It is through time spent together in nature that we are able to truly connect with one another.
Parish Youth Ministries (PYM) Shrine Mont Weekends
PYM offers three retreat weekends at Shrine Mont. Each begins on a Friday evening (registration generally begins at about 7 p.m., with the opening session beginning after dinner), and ends by about 11 a.m. on Sunday morning. Around 200 youth from around the Diocese come together for a weekend of fun, games, singing, worship, Bible study, and time in nature. Best of all, the weekend is led by an amazing group of high school students called PYM’ers.
