St. Mary’s is excited to host the second annual Gala benefiting St. Mary’s mission and outreach programs – Date with the Daffodils! During the discernment process, outreach was named as a priority of St. Mary’s. We are a congregation of compassionate members who are willing to donate time, as well as, be generous with resources. Throughout the past couple of years, the outreach committee formalized the local outreach grant process with the goal of impacting Goochland county and the greater Metropolitan Richmond area. In 2017, St. Mary’s was fortunate to be able to provide over $30,000 in grants to seven local non-profits – CARITAS, CrossOver Healthcare Ministry, Gateway Homes, Goochland Family YMCA, Goochland Free Clinic and Family Services, Peter Paul Development Center, and St. Andrew’s School. However, each year the money in the budget allocated for grants decreases. The solution was to create an event solely for raising funds for the programs of mission and outreach. This event, Date with the Daffodils, is crucial for the ongoing work of sharing God’s love through service extending beyond Sunday at church into the greater Goochland and Richmond community.
The committee (co-chairs, Katie Howlett and Clara Laing, and members, Nancy Cheely, Wayne Dementi, Claire Gilman, Karen Huennekens, Tracey Ragsdale, Linda Rose, and Jennifer Wilkins) have been hard at work planning a wonderful event in support of St. Mary’s Mission and Outreach Programs. To purchase tickets, please send a check made payable to “St. Mary’s Episcopal Church” with “Date with the Daffodils Gala” in the memo line. Or purchase tickets online by following this link, going to “Quick Give” and then choosing “Date with the Daffodils Gala” in the drop-down menu. Then type in the amount according to the number of tickets you’d like to purchase (tickets are $75 each).
Raffle, Silent Auction, and Live Auction
Try your chance at winning a case of wine! Four cases of wine, donated by the co-host committee, will be raffled off throughout the live auction. You will have a chance to buy tickets from 6 p.m. to 7:15 p.m. during the gala. One ticket is $25 or buy five tickets for $100, pay with cash, check, or credit card.
The Silent Auction includes some amazing packages such as sports tickets, custom art pieces, hotel stays and more! Silent Auction pieces will be located in the Dover Lounge throughout the night of the event. Preview some of the packages in the silent auction catalog here.
The Live Auction will begin at 7:15 p.m. in the New Parish Hall. Our auction committee secured some amazing items for the live auction. Check out the catalog of live auction items prior to the event! Once the live auction concludes at 8 p.m., check-out will open for the auction winners. Please stop by the check-out table to grab your winning item’s information packet and pay by check or credit card.

Get involved by volunteering at Date with the Daffodils! This event cannot run smoothly without a number of volunteers. Even if you are attending the event, please consider helping out before, during, or after the gala. We greatly appreciate you donating your time.
