Adult Formation
Enrich Your Faith
St. Mary’s has a number of educational and spiritual offerings. Join us for one or many!
Nourish Your Bond with God
Adult Christian Formation is the lifelong process of growing in relationship with God, self, others, and all creation.
Every experience in our lives can provide us with the opportunity to express our faith; the challenge we face is recognizing these opportunities and learning ways to live a sometimes counter-cultural life in a secular world.
St. Mary’s offers a variety of opportunities for adults to explore and express their faith.

Adult Forum
Sundays at 10:10 a.m.
This integral part of Sunday mornings September through May at St. Mary’s is led by clergy, staff, and other speakers during the 10 a.m. hour. Adult Forum provides education, spiritual formation, and fellowship to enrich our faith and our community. Join us in the parish hall between services and enrich your faith!
Lectionary Bible Study
Wednesdays at 10 a.m.
During the program year (September-May) this Bible study meets every Wednesday in the library, with an option to join via Zoom, and focuses on the lectionary readings assigned for the coming Sunday. It’s a wonderful space to learn, dive deeper into the scriptures, and ask questions.
Anyone who is interested is invited to attend and participate in this vibrant discussion. Call the church office at (804) 784-5678 for Zoom information.
Men’s Spiritual Practice
Tuesdays at 8 a.m. via Zoom
Open to men of all ages, this gathering is an opportunity to deepen your faith. Please contact us to learn more and receive the Zoom invitation information.
Book Studies
Throughout the year, there are several different book-study offerings. Please check out the upcoming options below and contact our Lay Associate for more details.
Fridays from 10:30-11:30 a.m.
Come enjoy study and conversation as we read several books on scripture, liturgical seasons, and theology. Some of the books we choose are challenging, but the group is full of people learning together. Everyone is welcome.
In January both book groups will read Wintering by Katherine May. Rev. Daniel has spoken of this book, and it seemed a perfect common read to get the year started. Author May’s husband fell ill, her son stopped attending school, and her own medical issues led her to leave a demanding job. Wintering explores how she not only endured this painful time
but embraced the singular opportunities it offered.
Sign up here for the Friday group, meeting Jan. 16, 23 & 30.
Tuesdays from 1:30-2:30 p.m.
Join us for conversation and fellowship as we discuss both novels and non-fiction books throughout the year. This gathering is informal. Haven’t finished the reading? Come anyway! Have a friend or two who would like to come along? Bring them!
