Stop Hunger Now
Packs 50,000 Meals

On Saturday, November 14, youth and adult members of St. Mary’s Church collaborated with other teams representing the congregations along River Road in an ecumenical outreach program. “Stop Hunger Now” is an international ministry focused on relief of hunger in the Third World. Episcopalians from St. Mary’s and All Saints, Presbyterians from River Road, Methodists from River Road, and Baptists from Second Baptist Church combined to pack 50,000 meals. The food was blessed, boxed, and made ready for shipping. The participants were blessed by the fellowship and mission of Christ’s Church.

8th Grade Confirmation Class

8th Grade Confirmation class participated in a Scavenger Hunt on the church Grounds on Sunday, November 15, 2009. Led by their teacher, Sara Grattan, and supported by parents who provided a wonderful pizza lunch, our eighth graders delved into the history of St. Mary’s by means of a scavenger hunt devised by Mrs. Grattan. Much was learned, and great fun was had in the event. Confirmation class meets on Sundays during the Sunday School portion of the 11:00 a.m. worship hour. Rector John Miller serves as visiting teacher on a monthly basis. Inquiries about confirmation should be directed to Dr. Miller at jmiller@stmarysgoochland.org or by telephone, 784-5678.
