All of our services are found in the Episcopal Book of Common Prayer, which traces its origins to Jesus Himself. The Book and its liturgies have been passed down over many years, amended from time to time to keep up with our living languages. The Episcopal Church USA’s BCP is adapted from the English text. Thomas Cramner was right when he wrote of it, “There was never anything by the wit of man so well devised or so surely established which, in continuance of time, hath not been corrupted, as, among other things, it may plainly appear by the common prayer, in the Church, commonly called divine service.” The Book of Common Prayer gives order to our worship services, and it is a comfort to Episcopalians old and new.
Starting Memorial Day weekend, we will have one service at 10:00 a.m. in New St. Mary’s through the month of June. During the months of July and August, the 10:00 a.m. service will be held in Little St. Mary’s Church. New St. Mary’s will be undergoing repairs to several windows at that time. The Sunday Service at 5:00 p.m. in Little St. Mary’s will not be held during the summer.
Summer Sunday School
During the summer, Sunday School will be offered for children age 3 through grade 5. Sunday School will include a morning Scripture lesson, followed by fun activities and a snack. Sunday School will begin at 10:00 a.m. during our summer worship schedule. Our summer Sunday School schedule will last from Sunday, June 8 – Sunday, Aug. 24.
Please note that there will be no Sunday School on the following Sundays: May 25, June 1, July 6, and August 31. The nursery will be open every Sunday at 10:00am for newborn little ones through age 2.
Beginning the week after Labor Day, we alternate between Morning Prayer and Communion at the 11:00 a.m. Service on Sunday. Each of those services has a version that uses more traditional language (Rite I) and more modern language (Rite II). Everyone is welcome to participate in each service, and, unlike some denominations, the Episcopal Church welcomes all baptized Christians to share in Holy Communion. Because we have a lot of young parents, services of Holy Baptism are added to the rotation as well. Those are particularly happy services, guaranteed to inspire smiles all around.
At 9:00 a.m. Each Sunday, We offer Holy Eucharist I in Little St. Mary’s.
At 5:00 p.m. Each Sunday, we have an Evening Worship Service with Communion on the first Sunday of each month and on Holy Days.
If you choose to visit, you will find a warm, serene, welcoming service and congregation.
