To Kill a Mockingbird

On Wednesday, October 1, Richmond lawyer Henry M. Massie, Jr. began a six-session discussion series on Harper Lee’s classic, To Kill a MockingbirdThe class, which is sponsored by the Adult Education Committee, will continue to meet on successive

Wednesdays from 7:00-8:30pm in the 8th Grade Classroom of the Youth & Education Building. It is not too late to join this class, as this week we will be viewing the film adaptation of To Kill a Mockingbird. The class themes for the upcoming weeks are as follows: 

Oct. 1 – Introduction of Harper Lee
Oct. 8 – View the film of To Kill a Mockingbird
Oct. 15 – Christian Aspects of the book
Oct. 22 – Legal Aspects of the book
Oct. 29 – Walking around in someone else’s shoes
Nov. 5 – Discussion of various aspects of the book

Mr. Massie’s interest in To Kill a Mockingbird began during his law school years when he was introduced to the book in a class on legal ethics. Since that time he has been captivated by Harper Lee’s literary contribution in terms of its legal, religious, and ethical import.
