Gathering of the Elect At St. Mary’s Seniors

And he shall send his angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they shall gather together his Elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other. -Matthew 24:31
Scholars of the Bible who recall Matthew’s promise will be delighted to know that the trumpet call has gone out and three of the Elect from Virginia’s House of Delegates have accepted our invitation to speak to the St. Mary’s Seniors at their regular monthly luncheon on April 8.
All three are seeking re-election and this will be your chance to ask them about legislation that passed — or failed — in the recent session and what plans they may have for the following week when the General Assembly reconvenes briefly to consider the bills that have been amended or vetoed by the Governor.
Del. Lee Ware is the senior presbyter of the local delegation, having been elected first in 1998. A resident of Powhatan, he also represents parts of Chesterfield and Goochland as well as Powhatan, and Fluvanna.
Del. Jimmie Massie of Henrico has been a member of the House for the past seven years and serves on the House Appropriations Committee.
Del. Peter Farrell, first elected four years ago, is also a resident of Henrico, but his district includes parts of Louisa, Spotsylvania and Goochland — including St. Mary’s — which goes to show that they really have been called from one end of heaven to the other.
St. Mary’s proudly claims Delegates Massie and Farrell as graduates of our Sunday School; Delegate Ware would have most assuredly been welcomed had he not been raised away.
St. Mary’s Seniors gather at forenoon, lunch is served at 12:15 pm. Our speakers begin at 12:45 and we promise you may depart by 2 pm after ample time for questions. All members of St. Mary’s are invited to attend, especially those juniors who are only aspirants to the order of seniority.
