New Sunday Schedule at St. Mary’s

September 13, 2015

Starting on Sunday, September 13, St. Mary’s will commence a new schedule for worship services and Christian education. The Sunday morning format will be as follows:

9:00-9:40         Holy Eucharist I in Little St. Mary’s

9:45-10:00       Fellowship & Coffee

10:00-10:50     Education hour*

Adult Forum – New Parish Hall

Education for Children – Classrooms in New St. Mary’s

Education for Youth – Education Building

11:00-12:00     Holy Eucharist I/II; Morning Prayer I (or Holy Baptism)

[*Parish Breakfast will be served in the Parish Hall during this hour on second Sundays with an abbreviated Adult Forum]

The 9:00 a.m. service will be shortened to enable members and friends to enjoy a time of fellowship and coffee in the Hospitality Café of New St. Mary’s.

At 10:00 a.m. Christian education for all ages will begin in designated spaces. Classes will conclude at 10:50 a.m.

The 11:00 a.m. service of worship will begin in New St. Mary’s. We will continue to offer a full range of liturgy, service music, and choral music provided by our Parish Choir, led by Organist & Choirmaster Dwight Graham.

Our parish clergy, including the Reverend Louise Browner Blanchard and the Reverend Emily Rowell Brown, Associate Rectors, and the Rev. Dr. John E. Miller, Rector, will alternate serving as celebrant/officiant and preacher.

Children are encouraged to participate in the liturgies along with their parents and other adults members. We will welcome children in expanded roles (for example, as readers, ushers, presenters of the offering). Our focus will be on inclusion of younger members of St. Mary’s in the experience of liturgy and spiritual formation. Although we welcome children of all ages in the service, there will be a provision for our youngest children (ages 3-7 years) to enjoy worship in Little St. Mary’s at their family’s request.

We will continue to have first and third Sunday Holy Eucharist at both services. Second and fourth Sundays will have Morning Prayer (or Holy Baptism in designated seasons). Fifth Sundays will feature Holy Eucharist at both services.
