Let’s Celebrate Children and Youth!

Weekly Reflection, Sunday, May 6, 2018

By: Patsy Simril

There is so much to celebrate at St. Mary’s and this morning is no exception. Please join us at 11:00 a.m. as we celebrate the children’s ministry and youth program by honoring and thanking our leaders, Amelia and Matt, our Sunday School teachers, and our beloved youth.

How did we get so lucky! Amelia and Matt shine in our children’s lives with their unconditional love, Christian modeling, creative spirits, and profound knowledge and understanding. I love and admire their unflappable demeanor and commitment to the word and will of God. We are blessed to have these two dynamos!!

Speaking of commitment…I am reminded of our promise made during the baptisms of our flock to “support these persons in their lives in Christ.” Being Christian takes a lot of practice and support from other Christians. Our responsibility does not end with this pledge of support but begins.

The Children’s Ministry Committee would like to extend a warm invitation to our “mature” members to join our group. There is no age discrimination; you can have gray hair, bad knees, and few original teeth and still feel appreciated and welcomed. We need your insight and experience. Together we can learn, not just the names of our youth, but their gifts and talents.

I am looking forward to seeing our youth take the helm this morning and practice what we have preached.
